The Netherlands’ court holds hearing in MH17 case of at site of aircraft reconstruction, – online

On May 26, the court in the case of the Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 crash on flight MH17 held a hearing for the first time at the site of the reconstruction of the aircraft from the wreckage – at the base of the Netherlands Air Force Gilze-Rijen in the south.

According to Ukrinform, during the court hearing on May 21, 2021, the prosecution asked to inspect the right and left parts of the cockpit of flight MH17 aircraft to compare the damage. After all, according to Dutch and Belgian experts, the surface-to-air missile hit the left side of the plane. Pulatov’s defense asked to provide them with a written version of the court-approved procedure for reviewing the reconstruction of the aircraft.

During the hearing, the court said that it had re-interviewed experts from the Russian Almaz-Antey arms industry company, Dutch and Belgian experts. It was a joint interview of experts.

Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 was shot down in the skies over Donbas on July 17, 2014. There were 298 people on board – 283 passengers and 15 crew members. They all died. This disaster, in terms of the number of deaths, became the largest in the history of civilian aviation since September 11, 2001. At that time, the area where the plane crashed was controlled by pro-Russian militants.

The JIT (Joint Investigation Team, JIT), which includes prosecutors and representatives of other law enforcement agencies of Ukraine, the Netherlands, Belgium, Australia and Malaysia, as well as representatives of Eurojust, concluded that the airliner of flight MH17 was shot down by a 9M38 series missile launched from self-propelled fire installation BUK-TELAR from an agricultural field near the village of Pervomaiske. This area at that time was under control of militants.

In the summer of 2018, the Dutch government absolved Ukraine of responsibility for the MH17 crash.
