KUALA LUMPUR : Pasir Puteh Umno division chief Datuk Zawawi Othman has resigned from his post as chairman of a government-linked company (GLC).
Announcing his resignation from Kesedar Kilang Sdn Bhd in Pasir Puteh last night, he said his decision was in line with Umno’s recent move to end cooperation with the ruling Perikatan Nasional government for the coming 15th general election.
He also called upon Umno leaders, who are political appointees at other GLCs to step down from their positions to toe their party’s line.
Zawawi was appointed the chairman Kesedar Kilang, which is a company owned by Lembaga Kemajuan Kelantan Selatan on Oct 26 last year..
He was quoted as saying that he will tender his formal resignation letter soon.
