KUALA LUMPUR : The High Court here today struck out an affidavit claiming that Umno has an unrevealed account to receive political donations.
The prosecution had filed the affidavit in a 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB)-linked forfeiture suit.
Judge Datuk Muhammad Jamil Hussin in his ruling said the affidavit was filed during the submission stage and would cause prejudice to the third-party claimants, namely Umno and its former president Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

He also noted that it was filed after all of the other affidavits were filed and without leave of the court.
“Accordingly, I rule that the affidavit cannot be used and I will not consider the affidavit in support,” he said.
The affidavit was crucial in the government’s application to forfeit RM114,164,393.44 and jewellery seized from a premises owned by Obyu Holdings Sdn Bhd, which were allegedly linked to the 1MDB fund scandal.
