The 79-year-old uncle, Tan Chooi Hong is still working his magic every day at the stall even with the implementation of MCO 2.0. He was recently described by BBC as the ‘Humble King of Noodles.’ The write-up referred to him as “one of the oldest char kway teow legends in Malaysia.” Not to mention he was also featured in the newly released BBC Travel’s “50 Reasons to Love the World in 2021”.

Despite all the fame, Uncle Tan still fires the wok on his own each day for two hours now, starting from noon before passing the wok spatula to his son. He has been doing what he loves for more than 60 years, which he said will continue on as long as his health permits.
