Nude pictures of the Thai king’s official mistress leaked in “revenge porn” storm

The mistress of the King of Thailand has become the target of a bizarre “revenge porn” hit apparently designed to undermine the monarch’s relationship with his official consort.

More than 1,400 images of Sineenat Wongvajirapakdi, also known as Koi, have been dispatched to anti-monarchy activists outside the country.

Many are nude and sexually explicit and appear to have been taken by Ms Sineenat herself between 2012 and 2014 perhaps to be sent to the 68 year old king Maha Vajiralongkorn.

It appears to be a deliberate attempt by factions within the Thai court to discredit the former nurse who is seen as a bitter rival to the Queen Suthida.

The photographs were sent to British journalist Andrew MacGregor Marshall, who writes critically about the Thai establishment, and to Japan-based Thai academic Pavin Chachavalpongpun.

Mr  Marshall wrote in a Facebook post:  “The photographs are clearly from Koi’s personal phones. Most of the images are photographs she took of herself, and dozens of them are very explicit.

“It seems probable that she had taken these explicit photographs of herself to send to Vajiralongkorn.”

It is the latest twist in a saga that has rocked the Thai monarchy, which treats the king as having semi-divine status.

The Millfield public school-educated king named Ms Sineenat, 35, his “royal noble consort” in August last year just three months after his marriage to Suthida.

But last October she fell spectacularly out of favour when an official statement accused the mistress of “dishonourable, lacking gratitude [and of] disobedience against the king and the queen”.

However, she was restored to the king’s circle in August this year when the Thai Royal Gazette expunged all the allegations against her and reported that she had never done anything wrong.

Sineenat had trained as a pilot in Thailand and abroad, served in the King’s royal bodyguard unit, and in 2019 was awarded the rank of a major-general.

She also received four medals, including the “most noble order of the crown of Thailand” and the”most exalted order of the white elephant, special class”.

The photos were delivered with a fake return address and a letter claiming they had been obtained by “pro-democracy Thai hackers”.

But Mr Marshall cast doubt on this, saying: “ Koi’s return was bitterly opposed by palace factions supporting Queen Suthida and Princess Bajrakitiyabha and it is highly probable the images of Koi were leaked in an effort to sabotage her return as Vajiralongkorn’s consort.”

The king has seven children by three previous marriages, all of which ended in divorce.
